Gina Wimpey is a (rare!) Washington, DC native and has deep knowledge and love of the DMV area. She lived all over the area before settling in the City of Alexandria, making her an ideal matchmaker to pair clients with just the right neighborhood and home. She has a passion for building and fostering community and works hard in her own neighborhood to create a real sense of home and belonging for all who live there. She takes that same mindset to her work in real estate and thrives on being the strongest possible advocate for her clients and delivering superlative customer service in every interaction, big or small.
She came to real estate after a long career in community outreach and communications in the DC area, including learning the “other side” of home ownership through working in the Arlington County planning, housing and building department. Gina has a particular interest in bringing new life to older homes, and helps guide clients from the daydreaming phase to the ins-and-outs of planning, permitting and construction. She also created digital content for underserved audiences at PBS KIDS, built community playgrounds at KaBOOM!, and brought the joy of reading to children at Reading Is Fundamental.
Gina has extensive experience with home renovations and unique projects like DIY garages, accessory dwelling units, and indoor/outdoor living spaces. She and her husband renovate their mid-century modern, architect-built home in their spare time and are designing and building a series of modern cabins in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They’ve also renovating a 34-foot vintage Airstream for family adventures with their two young children and rescue dog Ernie.
Gina serves as civic association president for her close-knit neighborhood and has taught yoga and creative writing to teenagers in the past. She’s an avid reader, functional fitness junkie, and an amateur-but-enthusiastic gardener and chef.
